Sachin Dev Burman was born in a Royal family of Tripura on 1st October in 1906

  • His wife Meera Dev Burman and son Rahul Dev Burman were also accomplished figures in the field of music
  • His first few recordings in Bangla film in 1933 were all replaced by Pahadi Sanyal (Safal Hogi Teri Aradhana is picturised on this gentleman)
  • He is one of the most prominent composer of Hindi Cinema at par with equally popular Anil Biswas and Naushad Ali
  • He did record quite a few songs in his own unique voice for Hindi Cinema .. most among top music composers after Hemant Kumar

Burman Da established himself as one of the premier Music Directors when Anil Biswas, Naushad Ali and Pankaj Mullick were big names in film industry. He was one of the greatest pioneers of Rabindra sangeet .. He also gave a a lot of importance to popular folk music in the country..

Burman Da worked with all the top playback singers of his time but he loved Kishore Kumar the most and Lata Mangeshkar almost as much . besides Geeta Dutt Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi were highly successful playback singers under his baton .. Manna Dey, Talat Mahmood, Hemant Kumar, Shamshad Begum and Mukesh also gave some of their most loved songs with him.

SD Burman started his career with Bengali cinema after initial stint with Bengali plays. His first Bangla film was Rajgee in 1937 . He came to Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1944. Earlier He first sang songs in 1933 film Yahudi Ki Ladki but these were later re-recorded with Pahari Sanyal. Later he sang in 1935 Sanjher Pidim .

Burman Da is also the father of Rahul Dev Burman who himself has been loved by millions of Indians for his absolute gem compositions .. int seems Burman Da had once asked his wife .. Has Pancham overtaken him in popularity..
