It was in 1969 that I got admitted to Fifth Standard at this school .. I remember our school was close to the airfield and it was a great sight to find aircrafts on the airstrip .. mainly Packet, and sometimes Canberra and Dakota.. Did we get to see Gnat too is a doubt ..

Many years later I had found an Officer of Air Force who served at Agra during or about the same period.. Retired Wing Commander Narinder Singh .. we first met at Bridgebase online or BBO in 2013 and later I rediscovered him at StarMaker .. a Karaoke App ..

The Beginning

The initial going was tough .. the standard of English was one of the difficult part.. General medium of Instructions was English .

remember there was a New Radiant Reader, which was quite beyond my skill.. I barely managed to be promoted to Sixth standard .. Here we had moved to new building of the school which was approached from the other side.. We lived at Kheria Road and much of my time in school was now dedicated to hone my skills .. I think Jagannath Sir taught us English and JK Saigal or Sehgal Sir taught us Mathematics.. Rashtra Bharti, our Hindi text was very dear to me .. however, slowly and steadily I got the grip of subjects as introduced to us.. House activities especially sports, annual function and other activities were very very interesting phase of this new life..

Friends rediscovered at Facebook

Mathews Mammen, George Oomen, Dhiraj Bose, Kanchan Singh Bisht, Bimal Kumar, Nirmala and Amarjeet Singh Bedi Pradakshana Pandit were some of school mates I remember.. in fact I do remember quite a few seniors too Prithviraj Bose was the brother of my class fellow. Dhiraj.. I especially remember him for his sports and Athletics performances ..

At Present I had discovered Mathews quite accidentally, as he was a Facebook friend of my KV IIT friend Sharad Tewari .. However, much of my interaction from KV AFS is with one year juniors especially Ashutosh Bhardwaj .. I did become friends with many KV AFS schoolmates.. some of whom were also my batchmates like Kanchan and Dhiraj .. I would try to reunite with some of them at Facebook if possible ..
My younger brother Ajay Sharma had got admitted to second standard the same year 1969 along with me .. More of him and Kendriya Vidyalaya friends from this school later ..

Maybe one of the best period of my school life was spent at Port Blair .. again the major House activities and Annual functions were the most important ingredients..

Much of my interaction after school was with some seniors especially the Alagappa Brothers and I met Mahesh Bhai in Belapur with Sudhakar quite a few years ago.. in 2010 I had visited Port Blair with Savita and Amrit and a reunion with the sons of Bhagwan Singh esp. Arjun Singh and Mangal Singh was quite remarkable .. I had also visited the house where we lived in Junglee Ghat..

I also met Joy James the Table tennis star from school days and stayed at his Nagri Inn for a couple of days.. and had travelled few parts including Havelock with help and logistic support from him .. Sharan Nanda of Nanda Motors was possibly one or two years junior to us .. had also visited him at his residence and showroom ..

Juniors

A large chapter of my Port Blair days is from the MES quarters and travelling to school with lot of friends juniors and seniors included .. a detailed account would be provided in due course .. A large number off friends in MES quarters travelled together from their residence to School .. including seniors, class fellows and juniors –

It was in September 1973 that we returned from Port Blair, where I had attended Class Seventh and Eighth and a short term of Ninth at Kendriya Vidyalaya located at Aberdeen Bazaar during 1971-1973. We had first approached Kendriya Vidyalaya Sector 4 Rama Krishna Puram or RK Puram in South Delhi. We could not find admissions there and finally were admitted to KV, IIT Hauz Khas. The school was in its primitive days .. Ninth standard was the highest class in the school .. So we enjoyed three years of seniority from 1973 to 1976 . being the first batch of our school at All India Higher Secondary Examination in 1976 ..
